Listen to the new Mixtape from Cut Copy to Promote Upcoming DJ Tour

Since their formation, Cut Copy have been known for their amazing live shows, and for good reason. The Australian electro-pop group put on shows that are involving and encompassing, with frontman Dan Whitford dancing around the stage, prompting the audience to follow suit. Whitford started his music career as a DJ, so it’s no surprise Cut Copy will embark on their first-ever proper DJ tour this summer, and there’s no doubt they’ll bring the high-energy feeling to the new dates.

Whitford will be joined by Cut Copy’s guitarist Tim Hoey for the tour, which includes stops in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Full tour dates are below. In anticipation for the DJ sets, Cut Copy have shared a new mixtape, titled A Forest Through The Trees, which is available for free download via Cut Copy’s SoundCloud.

The mixtape includes songs from Jamie xx, The Talking Heads, Four Tet, Hot Chip, The Chemical Brothers, and more. The mix showcases the band’s thorough knowledge of dance music, which should bode well for those looking to dance their asses off when checking out the upcoming tour.  “Every so often while we’re writing new music I’ll make a mixtape for the other guys in the band, or one of the other guys will put something together for us to get inspired by. It’s our band’s way of staying in tune about music we’re discovering while we’re apart. I’ve been doing some low key DJ’ing on my own a little bit over recent months, so I’ve included a lot of tunes I’ve been playing out. But I’ve also weaved in some more esoteric stuff that I’ve been listening to at home. It’s a bit like emptying out musical part of my brain and putting it on tape.” – Dan Whitford of Cut Copy
