Chicago’s Ryley Walker has released a video for his song “Sweet Satisfaction,” in correlation with the release of his new album, Primrose Green, released Tuesday via Dead Oceans.
“Sweet Satisfaction” was filmed in Death Valley in February, allowing Walker to escape the bitter cold of the Midwest winter. Walker’s songs reflect the Midwest he grew up in, and more than anything, they itch to find daylight outside of their native geography (just like any other Midwesterner); Walker makes folk music for those with wanderlust. “…once a year you have to train your mind to stay happy during the winter,” Walker says about living in Illinois his whole life, in an interview with Noisey. “It’s like teaching a dog to sit that won’t.”
Truth, Ryley. Truth.
Walker will tour Europe for the month of April, returning stateside in early May. Check out his european dates here, and take a look at his US dates below, which includes a Friday gig at this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival.
