LISTEN: New Track from The Tallest Man On Earth – “Dark Bird Is Home”

Kristian Matsson, a.k.a. The Tallest Man On Earth, has shared another track off of his upcoming album, this time it’s the title track from his latest full length, Dark Bird Is Home. The song will serve as the album’s bookend, and is a beautiful glimpse at the changes Matsson has made with his new sound.

“Dark Bird Is Home,” streaming above, starts out just as fans know TMOE from previous efforts, just a man and his guitar, but at around the 3:20 point of the 5-minute song, the track explodes into a gracefully emotional and uplifting track, fully reinforced by drums. The Tallest Man On Earth’s music has always been affecting, but Dark Bird Is Home, both as a song and an album, delivers on a whole new level. While the folk genre seems weighed down with monotony with new artists arriving every day, Matsson’s slight shift to a more full sound has already paid off, his eloquent voice and beautiful lyrics still stealing the show.

Dark Bird Is Home is set for release on May 12, and is available for pre-order now, via iTunes. All pre-orders will include instant downloads of the title track and the previously-shared “Sagres.”  Be sure to check out The Tallest Man On Earth as he embarks on his first tour backed by a full band, beginning later this week.
